“EVERYTHING GOOD HAPPENS AFTER MIDNIGHT”

The How I Met Your Mother’s fans may not agree with this statement (although, as I recall the series correctly the REAL problems seem to begin always after 2 a.m.). Whatever is the case, coincidence or not, something good happened to me after midnight. It was a night like any other when my huge friend Franci Alves (thank you, my dear, for that) came to me saying “you have to check this song out!”.

Knowing that she’s always a trustworthy source of great music, I hit the button almost instantly and wow, once again, she was right. After listening to this marvelous artist for a while, it was about time that he was mentioned here, Ladies and Gentlemen, without further ado, may I introduce you to our Artist of the Week: Tanner Patrick.

As you may have already realized, not only his name is uncommon… His soothing voice is too. With only 26 years old, Tanner has already been in a band, toured in the USA and Asia and shared the stage with The Band Perry! A lot, right? So, let’s know a little more about him.

It all started when young Tanner moved from Los Angeles to Dallas, Texas being only 4 years old. By the age of 5, he was encouraged by his parents to take piano lessons. Another five years later, he received his first guitar as a Christmas gift and that’s when all the fun began. Soon enough, he was writing and recording his own music using a cassette recorder.

At the age of 17, alongside Garrett Perales and AJ Novak, he started the band Disco Curtis. They released a few singles and one EP called Play With Fire Get Burned with Interscope Records. In 2010, Disco Curtis took part of the Warped Tour, however, as soon as their participation ended, so had the band; they announced their separation since Garrett and AJ were going to attend college.

One year later, Tanner initiated his solo career, in which he is not only a singer but also songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. He currently has a YouTube channel with over 1.100.000 subscribers and over 140.000.000 views in total.

His humongous charisma and talent made him be selected by Nigel Lythgoe as one of the eight artists to be featured on E!’s reality talent show “Opening Act”, where he shared the stage with The Band Perry and Brad Paisley, took part in a session with Nick Jonas and recorded an original song written by Keith Urban and Darrel Brown at Capitol Records Recording Studio.

In 2014, Tanner released his first LP The Waiting Home and, in May 2017, the self-produced EP Everything Good Happens After Midnight.

While his LP has a more rock/pop feel, his newer work has more acoustic sounds to create, as is stated on Tanner’s website “something more intimate, yet bigger than ever before.”

With delightful arrangements and sweet lyrics, the six songs of the affectionately called EGHAM are, for sure, the best thing you’re going to hear today. Well-played strings and an outstanding calming voice are the least you can expect from Tanner’s work.

Although he’s most known for his covers, such Pumped Up Kicks, his authorial work is also remarkable and I, particularly, hardly can wait to see him touring not only on North America and Asia but throughout the world!

If you want to learn 50 random (and funny!) facts about him, watch this amusing video from his channel that already has over 30.000 views:
