WINDS OF CHANGE

Ay, ay sailors!

We would like to start this week's post by explaining a little better why The Musical Expedition hasn't been updated in the last couple of weeks. We love to be here with you all on this incredible journey. However, the tide and the winds have changed and unfortunately, we had to deal with some serious technical problems on our ship.
We've tried incessantly to fix it as fast as possible, but for our misfortune, the repair needed more time than we've foreseen and we were only able to return now. We hope this doesn't happen again and are grateful for your patience.
Now, hop on board with us because there's a lot of great things in today's post.

Electronic in Rio
It all starts with the huge festival, known worldwide as one of the main events of live music throughout the globe: the Rock in Rio.

Its first editions justify its name, as it brought to Brazil artists like Queen, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, and many others.
Nevertheless, on its most recent versions (especially from 2001 onwards), the festival has been diversifying its musical genre, giving space not only to Rock but also to Pop, Indie, and Electronic.
And, on this completely different atmosphere of what has been already talked about here on M.E., we bring you today a Brazilian duo that is gaining notoriety on the dancefloors and nightclubs of the whole planet: the Cat Dealers.

On this special article about Rock in Rio, we've brought to your attention these artists that performed on the last day of the festival (24/09), and that, besides the pressure of going on stage during the presentation of the day's headliners,  Red Hot Chili Peppers, managed with mastery to attract a good number of people (and make them love!) their concert.

The components of the Cat Dealers are called Luiz Guilherme and Pedro Henrique, more known as Lugui e Pedrão. In an article to the DJMAG, it's explained that the idea for the project's name came from the fact that the duo lives with nine cats and, whenever someone visits, they ask if the visitor wouldn't like to carry one of the felines home with them. Even though their career is only beginning, the Cat Dealers already have some important achievements, such as more than 300.000 followers on their Facebook page, more than 22 millions of streams on Youtube of their better-known remix "Your Body" by Tom Novy, the 20th position on the Turkish Shazam, countless concerts throughout Brazil and beyond, and the 74th position amongst the 100 best DJs on earth on the worldwide relevant magazine of electronic music, DJMAG.

To explain a little better their trajectory and how it all begun, the Dealers released a video, which you can watch in the link below:

Cat Dealers - The Beginning

We dare to say that Cat Dealers have everything that it takes (and more) to be in no time alongside Alok, Vintage Culture, and Felguk, as the reference names of the Brazilian electronic music. This becomes even more clear after hearing their most known work, the remix of Your Body, a song originally by Tom Novy. With an exciting and different beat and a strong bassline, the listener sees her/himself addicted (and completely anxious about what's to come) within the first 40 seconds of the track. We highly recommend you give it a listen, and promise you won't regret:

Our tip is: before putting the music on, move the furniture (far) away from you, breath deeply, turn off the lights and get ready to hit your own private dancefloor, because it's impossible to stand still!

Man Shall Not Live By Remixes Alone
Besides compelling beats, the Cat Dealers demonstrate also versatility and talent when releasing original tracks. These, which are as good as their remixes, and as successful, have already made them conquer not only our humble ship but also the world! Recently, the Dealers performed in Mexico and Miami. Listen, bellow one of their most recent authorial songs, featuring Santti:

And this was our Artist of the Week, a huge promise of the Brazilian musical scene. Did you like it? We highly recommend you check their channel on Youtube out, where there's always news (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChbV7GOWui74FJoHLCLwVSw), and, of course, their Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/catdealers/) and Facebook (https://pt-br.facebook.com/CatDealers/), where you can find more information about upcoming concerts, the duo's routine, curiosities, new songs and lots of other interesting content.
