IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY...

"Today we’ll embark on The Asteroid Galaxy Tour’s spaceship and learn more about this brilliant Danes duo.”

Certain music enters your life unexpectedly; well, most of it, if we’re being completely honest. The most curious, though, is not the way they had to come to find you but the life-lasting effect they have, becoming a part of you and, sometimes, shaping your personality.

Some years ago, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, more specifically Mette Lindberg, indirectly helped me to be more confident and find my own voice. You see, I’ve always loved to sing, but avoided it, thinking my voice wasn’t good enough. Until one day I heard “The Golden Age”, and was simply amazed. I remember thinking “Wow, how does she do that? What a voice!”

Becoming slightly obsessed with Mette’s vocals, I started trying to sing like her. Imagine my surprise when I found out that it was easier than I thought? As it turns out, we have similar vocal tones! It’s obvious that my ‘technique’ (let me say it like this to sound posher) is still to be improved and a lot has to be done, but thanks to her, I discovered a vocal range I never knew existed and a confidence in singing that I’ll be eternally grateful to Mette and to the band for now having.

But enough about me, let’s talk about what really matters: The Asteroids Galaxy Tour! T.A.G.T. is a Danish duo, formed by Mette Lindberg (vocalist) and Lars Iversen (multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer). When live, the duo becomes a band and receives the addition of Mikkel Balster Dorig (guitar), Simon Littauer (MPC and keys) and Rasmus Littauer (drums).

Iversen met Lindberg in high school. Thanks to their similar musical taste and style, they soon got along well and started composing songs together. In 2007, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour was officially formed in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In 2008 happened their first ever gig as an opening act for Amy Winehouse. Some weeks before, she had listened to their freshly made demo and liked it so much that invited them to the spot right away. Shortly after, they released the singles “Around The Bend” and “The Sun Ain’t Shining No More”.

Both were well received by the public, being played on radio stations across Europe and helping the band to be internationally known. “Around The Bend” became the soundtrack for one of Apple’s commercials, being featured also in the documentary “The September Issue” and on the NBC series “Chuck”. “The Sun Ain’t Shining No More” was the theme song for Canadian series “InSecurity”.

In 2009, the group released their debut album “Fruit” which includes the track “The Golden Age”. The music was The Asteroids Galaxy Tour’s greatest success until this post’s release, it peaked number 4 on the Austrian charts and 7 in the Swiss charts. The single was also vastly used in many advertisements and TV Series, such as Heineken’s and Mad Men, respectively. Other two songs from Fruit (their debut album, released in September 2009, which includes all the tracks mentioned before and eight more) were also used in TV shows: “Lady Jesus” and “Rock The Tide”.

2009 was a great year for the band. Still, back then, the collective supported Katy Perry on her summer European tour and, in September, started their own tour, this time solo. By the present time, the band has another two CDs released: Out Of Frequency (2012) and Bring Us Together (2014).

The most recent news about them was Mette’s participation as a judge on the 9th and 10th seasons of the X Factor Denmark (2016 – 2017). And, according to their website, that new music shall be released at the beginning of 2018 (we can hardly wait!).

Their song is usually described as psychedelic indie/pop and alternative, but listening attentively we can also notice clear influences of hip-hop, dance, funk, and many others genres.
